In a fast-changing work environment, designing collaborative spaces has become essential for team well-being and efficiency. RATP Real Estate, the property arm of the RATP group, decided to improve its offices by installing Work With Island pods. In this case study, Étienne Joly explains his experience and the concrete benefits these pods brought to his teams.

After a few weeks of use, we returned to their offices to interview Étienne Joly about how the acoustic pods are used day to day.

How many people work in your offices?

We have 70 workstations. They allow us to host all the cross-functional teams at RATP Real Estate: HR, IT, accounting, and also the urban planning, development, and project management teams.

What was the situation before installing the pods?

We work in a collaborative space. So there were very few places to take calls in private. Most of the time, people took their calls at their desk or moved to the common areas.

What were the consequences?

We had two main issues. For the person on the call, there was no privacy. And for those nearby, it created noise and discomfort. So, together with the HR team, we decided to install an acoustic pod.

How would you describe your experience with Work With Island?

It went very well. From the start, I had a dedicated contact who supported me from order to installation. Delivery and installation were also smooth. The team was very reactive, flexible, and agile. The pod was installed in a few hours and had almost no impact on the workspace, even though the office was running normally. We were able to use it right after delivery.

Did the pods solve your initial problems?

Yes. All irritants disappeared. Now, for any call, people naturally go into the pod. It is part of our routine. It’s used every day by everyone.

What do the pods bring compared with your meeting rooms?

For calls, we can isolate ourselves in a small, quiet space that fits our needs. Our meeting rooms are better for two, three, or more people.
